Baptism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From the earliest days of the Christian Church, Baptism has been the way in which people become Christians and members of the Church.  The Gospels tell us that Jesus himself was baptised by John the Baptist in the River Jordan and that Jesus taught his disciples to go out into the world and baptise. Jesus teaches his people that all who would enter his kingdom must be born again of water and the Spirit. Baptism is the sign and seal of this new birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents bring their child to church giving thanks to God for this wonderful gift of life. They choose a few people to become godparents, supporting the parents in their role. All should recognise that their role is to support the child as they grow, helping them to develop spiritually as well as emotionally and physically. There are regular services throughout the ministry area including some specifically for families and events specifically for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marriage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For centuries the Church has been, and it continues to be, a place where couples come together to join their hands, exchange vows and give and receive rings; and in doing so declare their love for one another in the presence of God, their families and friends. Your wedding is a time of great joy and celebration, and a wonderful way to affirm with everyone the love you share together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have eight different churches in the ministry area where weddings can take place and some venues where you could hold your reception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first step is to contact the Administrator<\/a> who will take your details including which church you would like to get married in and when. We need to make sure this is possible, both legally and practically, before we can confirm your booking. Please download and send the completed form to the Administrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Banns of Marriage<\/strong> for weddings taking place in another ministry area or parish can be arranged through the Administrator<\/a>. A certificate is then issued which needs to be given to the minister officiating at your wedding. Please download and send the completed form to the Administor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bereavement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The death of a loved one is a difficult time. Arrangements can feel challenging and so much seems uncertain. Jesus promised eternal life to all who believe in him which brings hope that life is not ended but changed and the parting, painful as it is, is temporary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst it is easier to use a funeral director to organise lots of the arrangements we are here to offer support as you try to come to terms with the loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clergy<\/a> can conduct the funeral service in church or crematorium or graveside as appropriate. They are also available to listen and the congregations will offer a welcome to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
